Exploring the gut’s potential for metabolic health

Cerebrolytics is exploring a new application of its miniaturized lead technology: targeted electrical stimulation within the duodenum, the first section of the small intestine.
Our goal is to investigate whether carefully controlled stimulation can enhance the body’s own release of GLP‑1, a hormone involved in glucose regulation and appetite.
Proposed architecture
A flexible interface.
A new research direction.
The proposed design combines a slender, flexible lead with tissue-facing electrodes, soft insulating support, and dedicated fixation points. Conceived for endoscopic placement, it aims to maintain gentle contact with the intestinal lining while allowing stimulation to be precisely adjusted.

Images illustrate a proposed design, not an established implantation technique. Endoscopic placement, fixation and tissue safety require validation.
Beyond glucose control
Investigating intestinal signaling.
Exploring metabolic health.
Our vision extends beyond glucose control. We aim to investigate how intestinal signaling may support broader metabolic health—and whether these pathways could contribute to healthy aging.
Investigational concept. Safety, effectiveness, and any benefits for longevity have not been established.
